Caitlin & Dan: Married in the Park
What happens when big city Girl from Chicago meets down home Boy from Seattle? A fabulously modern, stylish, and uber-chic wedding filled with Northwest quintessence. I met with Caitlin and Dan early on in their planning process, and getting to know them and having the opportunity to fulfill their wedding day vision was truly an exciting adventure! When Caitlin told me she wanted to walk down the aisle to “All I Want is You” from the movie Juno, my mind immediately raced to the Olympic Sculpture Park as the perfect venue. Let’s break it down from there….
GETTING THE WORD OUT: With this venue and Juno in mind, we custom designed their Save-The-Date cards.
SAYING “I-DO”: Despite the unforgiving morning rain, the clouds miraculously parted promptly at ceremony time. We attached Caitlin’s Grandfather’s tallit, also known as a Jewish prayer shawl, to bamboo poles to create the chuppah. Caitlin had this great idea to have a customized cross-word-puzzle on back of each program to give guests a little pre-ceremony entertainment. It was a HUGE hit! Designed by Brown Sugar Designs
SWEET ENDINGS: Besides the theme song, the only other non-negotiable guidance Caitlin gave me was her color inspiration, and the fact that she loves candy. There shall be lots and lots of SUGAR! And so sugar we did…. This sweet cake stand was hand-made for Caitlin by Clara French, whom I positively adore. Starry Nights Catering supplied the cake. Yum!
DECOR: Tanya Stone with Elements in Bloom truly delivered when it came to the flowers. I could not have been more pleased with how she truly achieved our floral vision – perfection! One of California’s finest linen companies, La Tavola, dressed up the tables, and Rented Elegance provided extra decor and lounge furniture.
THE FASHION: The couture dancing about the party was enough to bring me to tears. Caitlin looked absolutely stunning in this Watters gown and cathedral veil. “Dapper Dan” wore Joseph Abboud, while the ladies strutted about in Vera Wang. Make-Up by Sequoia Leopold of My Flawless Tan & Hair by Crystal of Frederick’s Salon.
THE PAR-TAY: As always, TASTE served up food that looked as amazing as it tasted! Small plates were featured, as well as mini-sliders making a late night appearance. Salon du Swing blew the roof off the house with a 7-piece plus vocalist. Bandleader, Pete Leinonen, will surely deliver one of the liveliest “Hava Nagila’s” in town! Photo Booth Services added endless fun for guests.
CAPTURING THE MAGIC: Finally, the talent who captured these moments and placed them so beautifully in a perfectly packaged time capsule for Caitlin and Dan – Laurel McConnell Photography. She’s a gem to work with – thank you, Laurel!
Cheers to HAPPILY EVER AFTER!
